The Other (1972) used bucolic 1935 Connecticut to tell a truly disturbing story of twin boys with dangerous supernatural powers. Directed by Robert Mulligan (To a Kill Mockingbird) from a script and book by Tom Tryon, and costarring Uta Hagan and Diana Muldaur, the film has earned a cult reputation as a unique and affecting piece of 1970s horror.Long admired as one of Goldsmith’s most offbeat horror scores—made even more mysterious by the fact that cues were dropped from the finished film—The Other was released in an extended suite by Varèse Sarabande alongside The Mephisto Waltz in 1997. This Deluxe Edition features the complete stereo score in a new audio restoration by Chris Malone with liner notes by Tim Greiving
