An instant sell-out back in 2009! Intrada re-visits its successful limited release of this rousing Jerry Goldsmith western score! Presented by Walt Disney Productions, One Little Indian casts James Garner, Vera Miles, Pat Hingle, Clay O’Brien, Andrew Prine, young Jodie Foster. Harry Spalding scripts, Bernard McEveety directs… and two camels feature. Garner deserts the Union Army, is caught and returned for execution. Complications ensue, Garner again escapes with young O’Brien, encounters two camels, widow Miles, her daughter Foster… all with Army executioners in pursuit. Goldsmith plays to three distinct elements in the story: richly melodic love theme, humorous outdoor camel play and rousing outdoor western action. Each has reward but spotlight surely goes to energetic opening sequence, “Escort The Prisoner” plus ferocious action of “Hot Fire”, “Go After Him!”. Warm melody, accessible harmony of “Thirsty Boy”, replete with trademark solo trumpet is another highlight. Goldsmith uses sitar with orchestra to underline camel sequences to great effect. Westerns were frequent subjects throughout Goldsmith’s career. One Little Indian was the first Disney picture to feature Goldsmith music. Classic scores for Night Crossing, Baby: Secret Of The Lost Legend and Mulan would follow. Note: Although this new edition does include slight re-mastering and very modest changes to booklet design, contents are identical and owners of Intrada’s 2009 album need not apply. Score was recorded at Walt Disney Scoring Stage in Burbank across two days in April 1973 on 35mm 4-channel stereo elements, then transferred to 2” analog masters for storage in Disney vaults in pristine condition. Intrada engaged Bruce Botnick (Goldsmith’s longtime engineer of choice) to digitally mix elements into crisp stereo for CD release. Dynamic recording shines!  Arthur Morton orchestrates, Jerry Goldsmith composes, conducts.
